Panels Overview

Panther uses a flexible panel system that lets you customize your workspace to fit your trading style.

What Are Panels?

Panels are individual windows within Panther that display different types of information:

  • Market data and charts
  • Order books
  • Account balances
  • Scanning tools

You can open multiple panels, arrange them side by side, and organize them into tabs.

Opening Panels

The fastest way to open a panel is through the Command Palette:

  1. Press / to open the Command Palette
  2. Type the panel's command code (e.g., BAL for Balance)
  3. Press Enter

Arranging Panels

Panther uses a mosaic layout system. You can:

  • Drag panels to rearrange them
  • Resize panels by dragging the borders between them
  • Split views by dragging a panel to the edge of another

Layout Examples

Side by side: Drag one panel to the left or right edge of another

┌─────────┬─────────┐
│ Chart │ Order │
│ │ Book │
└─────────┴─────────┘

Stacked: Drag one panel to the top or bottom edge

┌─────────────────┐
│ Chart │
├─────────────────┤
│ Order Book │
└─────────────────┘

Grid: Combine both approaches

┌─────────┬─────────┐
│ Chart │ Order │
│ │ Book │
├─────────┴─────────┤
│ Balance │
└───────────────────┘

Tab Management

Organize your panels into tabs for different workflows:

  • Switch tabs: Cmd/Ctrl + 1-9 to switch to tabs 1-9
  • Clear tab: Cmd/Ctrl + X removes all panels from current tab
  • Close tab: Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + X closes the current tab
  • Rename tab: Use command RNT in the Command Palette

Example Workflow

Create separate tabs for different activities:

  • Tab 1: Markets overview (Kalshi Markets + Balance)
  • Tab 2: Trading (Chart + Order Book + Event Viewer)
  • Tab 3: Scanning (+EV Scanner + Arbitrage)

Panel States

Some panels remember their state:

  • Selected markets or events
  • Filter and sort preferences
  • View mode settings

These settings persist within your session. When you reopen Panther, panels return to their default state.

Tips

  • Start simple: Begin with one or two panels and add more as needed
  • Use keyboard shortcuts: They're faster than clicking
  • Create workflows: Set up tabs for specific tasks
  • Close unused panels: Too many panels can slow down updates
